Charlton Christian College is a K–12 co-educational Christian college of over 800 students, located in Fassifern, Lake Macquarie. Our mission is to provide a Christ-centred education of excellence that helps students develop their God-given potential.
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Counsellor to join our team. This key role provides professional counselling and referral services to support the emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing of students, families, and staff.
About the Role
Provide individual counselling to students in a safe and respectful environment.
Support families with guidance and referrals to external services where appropriate.
Develop and facilitate small group wellbeing programs (e.g. grief and loss, social skills).
Partner with staff to promote a culture of wellbeing and pastoral care across the College.
Maintain accurate and confidential case notes and records.
The Successful Applicant Will Have:
A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and regular attendance at a Christian Church.
Tertiary qualifications in counselling or a related discipline (e.g. psychology, social work).
Eligibility for membership with ACA, PACFA, or equivalent body.
Demonstrated experience counselling children and adolescents, including case management and interagency collaboration.
Knowledge of child protection, trauma-informed care and current best practice in student wellbeing.
Current NSW Working with Children Check.

Salary & Conditions
The full-time equivalent salary for this role is circa $77,000–$115,000 depending on skills and experience. As the position is term-time only (approximately 40 weeks/year), the actual pro-rata salary range payable is approximately $57,000-$88,000. This amount is averaged across the year to provide consistent fortnightly payments. The role is remunerated under the Christian Schools General Staff Multi-Enterprise Agreement and will receive a 4% increase from 1 February 2026.
