The company
Spill is a UK-based EAP service that offers a modern take on the traditional Employee Assistance Programme, allowing employees easy access to high quality mental health support through video sessions, messaging support and manager advice.
Since launching our product in January 2020, we've grown to 90 counsellors in the UK and deliver over 2,000 sessions per month. Having had success in the UK, we’re now expanding the service to Australia.
The role
The quality of counselling and therapy received by Spill clients is at the heart of our success in the UK. We’ve developed a rigorous hiring, safeguarding and supervision practices to allow our UK service to run smoothly. This role is about adapting those processes to the Australian clinical world and owning the success of them as we hire counsellors over here.
The role can be split into two parts: ensuring that our clinical governance in Australia is best in class, and working on the front line to deliver the correct running of our clinical processes through safeguarding support and supervision for our counsellors.
Governance and hiring
Responsibilities:
- In the initial period, adapting our safeguarding policies to be in line with other services and defining the routes to accessing local services in the case of safeguarding issues
- Maintaining our policies (eg safeguarding, supervision, safe practice) for counsellors to be in line with ACA requirements
- Managing any client complaints and reviewing our practices and processes to ensure that we’re always learning and improving
- Meeting with the UK clinical team and engaging in a process of continuous improvement of the Spill service across sessions, safeguarding, supervision and governance
- Lead recruitment of counsellors
- Eventually, lead the recruitment of other supervisors and safeguarding supervisors
Safeguarding and supervision
Responsibilities:
- Delivering monthly clinical supervision to counsellors
- Act as the safeguarding lead - delivering safeguarding supervision to Spill therapists when they raise a safeguarding concern
- Ensuring appropriate escalation, management and actions in response to safeguarding
- Developing and delivering annual safeguarding training to Spill counsellors
Requirements
The ideal candidate
We're looking for someone with the following experience:
- Registration with PACFA or ACA
- Minimum 5 years’ experience providing individual counselling across diverse settings
- Supervision qualification and at least 5 years’ experience delivering clinical supervision
- Demonstrated experience in clinical governance or service leadership
Location:
As we expand the service in Australia, we’ll be opening an office over here. Because of this, we’re only taking applications from people based in Sydney or Melbourne to allow for in-person working in the future.
